Growing up in Eastern NC, my family cook outs were a must almost every weekend in the summer. My dad would fire up the charcoal grill and throw on whatever meat we had in the fridge. My absolute favorite meal was grilled cheeseburgers and hot dogs, and that remains true today. When I walk into a Raleigh-area Char-grill, the smells, sounds, and the food, takes me back to those wonderful memories.

If you have ever tried to make pralines, you know it’s not an easy task. Between tedious measuring and constant stirring, these pecan candies are usually a dish I avoid making, but not one I avoid eating. I fondly remember enjoying these treats as a child, an usually pick up a bag whenever I can get my hands on one. So, you can imagine my excitement when I discovered Miss Renee’ & The 2 J’s. Miss Renee’ brought a taste of her native Louisiana to the heart of NC with her home-based family business.
